Default garmin camera question

anyone here have the garmin gc10 camera? Can it be used as a security device and used to film video of fishing with decent quality like the go pro? I am looking for a permanent wired camera that stays on the boat that can be used to film fishing and possibly as a security camera while docked .

No, the GC10 is just a regular camera with a composite video output. It has no recording capabilities unless you connect it to some type of device. I have one and have it mounted in the windlass locker, so I can make sure the rode doesnt tangle. But by itself, it is not a security camera or recording camera.

Thanks Salty, but would you say the quality of the image is acceptable to be used with a recording device for security and fishing purposes?

Yes, quality of the image is fine, it is not a megapixel camera or anything like that, but fine for security or general fishing pictures.
