Default Subwoofer placement

My center console has a small cabin with a bed/head/fridge in it. When underway and parked at the beach, I leave the sliding door open at all times.

Is there any logical reason I shouldn't mount my JL 10" in there, out of the weather? Being that it is non directional, the low frequency sound should bounce right out, or am I crazy?

the closer you can get the sub to yoru main listening area or where you want the bass the better.

Thanks brad v. I ended up cutting it in right to the side of the helm. It's still under the hardtop, so should be pretty well protected.
