Default Alpine PDX 4.100M vs JL Audio M400/4

Just want a little advice from you guys.

Doing a new audio install and will be running 2 pairs of JL's M770-CCX's (after reviewing this forum). Don't want to run a sub.

Was keen on the JL amp but concerned I will not be utilising the M770's to the fullest extent with this amp. The Alpine has a few more watts (100 x 4 RMS) which would seem to match the JL's a little better, and considering I will not be running a sub - so was thinking the Alpine amp would give more punch.

What do you guys think and why?

Cheers.

The pdx is very power frugal with its class D circuitry making it my choice for a boat.

Haven't heard much about marine alpine amps. If ur concerned about matching rms get the mhd 4 channel jl amp that way ur watts will stay the same no matter the voltage. That alpine is probably 4 x 100 at 14.4 and 4 x 80 at 12.5

Yes you are correct the PDX is rated at 4 x 100rms at 14.4 volts. I can't find specs as to the PDX's output at any lesser voltage to compare to the JL though.

Thanks for the tip on the alternative JL amp.

Cheers.
