I had the TwinScope forward looking device on my Wellcraft. Nice concept, but I was not terribly impressed. It was a nice concept but didn't perform the way I hoped it would.

I had an Interphase Sea Scout years ago. I'll echo what marinerjoe said, "It was a nice concept but didn't perform the way I hoped it would."

Has anyone who has tried to use a forward sonar in shallow water been happy with it? No. It's a matter of simple geometry.

Its a matter of boat speed. When I slow down and creep into a strange gunk hole, my interphase Forward scanning sonar keeps me from getting in trouble. That makes it worth while. I'm pushing 10,000 pounds of boat with 16 hp, so slow is one of my options.

I used the color twinscope for a full season a few years ago; both offshore and in the Bay (30 to 120feet). Offshore it was worthless. In the bay in 80 feet or more it worked good at best on perfect days. Most of the time it was unimpressive as noted. While the LSS1 does not look forward, it is by far a superior unit looking to either side.
