Default Budget Build

Over the winter I would like to upgrade my electronics. I currently have a dead Furuno radar, a Garmin 2006c Charplotter, and a Garmin 320c Fish Finder. I am attaching a picture of the helm to give an idea of the space I will be working with.

The boat is a 1990 Cruisers Yachts 3670 with twin inboards. I boat on Lake Michigan and attached rivers. We are using the boat mainly to cruise and spend the weekend on the hook, although I do like to do light fishing with the grandson.

I like the Garmin units but am not married to them, the chartplotter is easy to use and with the blue vision chip is pretty detailed. The fishfinder is mainly used as a depth finder, it has a thru the hull transducer, not sure of which one.

I would like a system that I can start with the basics and add features as budget permits. The chartplotter and radar are the first order of business. Over time I would want to be able to add autopilot, rudder display, engine management would be nice, particularly fuel consumption. Weather would also be cool to have someday.

Now the tought part. I want to keep this as a budget build but I want to be able to integrate everything. It is also important that this be a system that can be expanded. I will do all the install myself, that is no problem, but I do want a product line with good support, either thru the manufacturer or on-line.

So any suggestions on where to start?

Thanks in advance,
Harry
