Default Garmin 740S vs Furuno 585

I bought a 740S and paired it with a M260 this summer. I would like a stand alone FF for ease of use. Is a Furuno 585 any better than the 740S's FF? If the Furuno is far better, then does stepping up to the 295 get me more then a bigger screen if left with the M260? I fish the Gulf of Mexico in usually less than 400'. Thanks!

If you are looking for a stand alone sounder then the Furuno FCV585 paired with a top of the line transducer will not disappoint.

Over the last 4 years I have sold an amazing number of the FCV585's to fisherman from almost every point of the world.
This unit sells itself.
The FCV585 is intuitive to use, trouble free and provides exceptional target detection...and great customer support from Furuno.

The Furuno FCV 585 has a very strong following..just try and find one used...by the time someone is ready to sell, he already has a buddy ready to buy.

The FCV 295 is not really suited for your fishing needs. It is best used with the R299 & R399 and in more of a semi commercial situation...such as a commercial charter etc. The FCV295 is a very serious machine.

Thanks for the input. The 585 would certainly be easier to place on my boat.
