I have a Navnet 3D MFD12 and couldn't be happier. As for the chart unlock codes, that is only if you decide you need additional chart like the Bahamas. All of the Mapmedia raster and vector charts for the US are preloaded and open. You can also download free satellite photos and fishing charts for the US as well. No unlock codes needed. Like I said, if you are going outside of the US, like the Bahamas or somewhere else, you may need to buy an unlock code. Is that different on the Garmin???

In my mind, you can't go wrong with Furuno. Great products and great service. Just my 2 cents!

thanks, but it just seem furuno is a little more difficult to navigate the product, as i have used garmin before and love its simplicity

True, but like anything, once you get the hang of it, it becomes pretty easy. Furuno also put training videos up on their web site, which helped out a lot. What is cool, you can set the system in a basic mode, so it hides a lot of the more complicated options, making it easier to use. It all comes down to preference. Good luck with your Garmin!

Yes the imo the Furuno Rader and Sounder are better and the Garmin Chartplotter is better. But if they are to complicated to use ......
