Default OX66 aux. charging lead and isolator/combiner???

2001 OX66 250 w/aux. charging lead, Blue Sea "add-a-battery" switch w/isolator/combiner. Should I leave the Yam. aux lead off?? Yes, I asked Blue Sea tech. and they said ask Yamaha. What does THT say??

Well, lets look at the schematics. The charging lead off the Yam alternator does basically the same thing as the ACR, it is taking a single charging source and dividing it's output up between 2 batts. Is that division equal? Is their circuitry capable of taking the alternators output and dividing it equally between the 2 batts? For that matter, is an ACRs circuitry capable of that as well? I think not...

I go for leaving the auxillary charging lead disconnected and let the ACR do the work...

I bought the Blue Seas Add A Battery kit before I realized that my OX66 had the auxiliary charging lead. I opted to leave the VSR off and just hooked the auxiliary lead to the house battery. It made for a much simpler installation, and I figure I have one less component for potential failure.

I now have a brand new never used VSR I would like to get rid of if anyone is interested.
