Can anyone tell me What gauge speaker wire I should use on my boat?

16-2 shielded - not necessary to be shielded, but I like it....

12-2 for subs

You should tell us a little more about your boat and your sound system if you wand a good answer. Glen's suggestion of 16 gauge wire is fine for most situations. If you have a high power amplifier with longer speaker runs, you could use #14 or even #12. There's not much difference in cost.

On the other hand, the speakers in my boat were wired with 18 gauge wire and for my enclosed cabin boat and 50 watt per channel stereo that's never turned up to where a conversation cannot be held, this is fine. Not what I would have used, but not worth replacing.
