Default Which GPS/Sonar combo do you like? Considering the Garmin 4212 or the Lowrance HDS 10

Hey everyone! I just bought a 1989 Black Watch Flybridge two weeks ago. I was able to find one in the Great Lakes that is in great condition. I thought it was a huge advantage to buy a freshwater boat and ship it to Charleston, SC. The electronics are either outdated or nonexistent.

The purpose is to do a lot of cruising and fishing. Can you make some recommendations what combo GPS/sonar/fish finder is the best combination? My budget is around $3,000, but just like everyone else I would like to spend less. I’m open to any recommendations that you may have.

More specifically, I’m considering the Garmin 4212 and the Lowrance HDS 10. Does anyone have any opinion of these units?

Thanks for your help!

Default electonics

either on this site or Bassbarn, saw a guy selling E120 screens and radar for great price. The
E-120 is a great system. This unit looked pristine.

I don't have much experience with all the different electronics manufacturers.

I had an X135 and a Garmin hand held gps76. They worked.

I installed HDS-10, BR-24, Airmar TM260 and all I can say is WOW.
I have not had any problems with Lowrance and am extremely happy with my purchases.
I am not the most electronically gifted individual: however, I have found the HDS series to be pretty darned user friendly for me.
I got the Nautic Insight and a Navionics Platinum Plus chip(extra $200) of my area and am also very happy with the charts.
I bought the HDS-10 from Basslayer82 on here brand-new with Factory warranty for $1800. shipped to my door. The BR-24 I bought from BOE for 1200 and change. The Tm260 was around 650 or so from Semperfishing on here. Would recommend purchases from all of them.
Good luck, chris

dont get raymarine they have many problems and are extremely confusing to use in the old units. If you have the extra 1000 dollars go with the 6212. The 4212 is extremely slow when you start adding more accesories to it. the 6000 series has zero redraw speeds which is awsome
