Default How close can a subwoofer be to my electronics???

I am planning on adding 2 JL audio 10" Infinite-Baffle subwoofers in my 28 Triton. Th location i was thinking of putting them was under the back rest cushion of the seat in front of the console. Is this two close to my compass and electronics??? I am also thinking of adding two 770 JL speakers firing down from the over head box and then another pair in the leaning post. Making a total of 8 770's and two subs. Any ideas are welcome. I will also post better pictures once i get back to the boat. Thanks in advance

"Is this two close to my compass and electronics??? "

How close is it? One foot? Two feet? More than two feet?

The electronics won't be affected. The compass will be, depending on the distance. You can do a rough check by watching the compass as someone moves the speakers into the location you are considering. If the compass moves, that's too close.

I am currently asking the same question. I cant put one sub anywhere within 30" of the compass or it starts deviating. Had to re-think my whole console layout.

The audio frequencies produced by a sub woofer are not directional (unlike higher frequencies), so the woofers can be placed pretty much anywhere in the cockpit as far as sound quality goes.

Mid and high frequency speakers should be arranged to face the people who will be listening to the sound.

Not sure what your goal is, but I would listen to a similar setup on a similar boat with JL audio speakers.

8- 770's and 2 10" subs is overkill for most. Also consider resale value. The holes can be reglassed but some one has to pay for it.

With proper speaker placement and power you can increase aesthetics and reduce the number of speakers.
