Talking Older Raymarine 24" 2kw Radome

Have the opportunity to purchase radome described in posting title. I was not aware that the 2kw radome (24 mile nominal range) ever came in the 24" inch configuration; only the RD218. Seller says that unit serial number indicates that it was manufactured in 2006.

Any general / historical information on this particular model / compatibility with E80 classic would be appreciated. Is this an older Ratheon product?

Thanks in advance for the insight.

24" is the 4kw, period.

Compatible - Yes, as long as the dome was made after mid-may 2003.

This isn't as ancient as you make it out to be. If in 2006, it was made after everything changed over from Raytheon to Raymarine. If the dome says Raytheon on it and not Raymarine, then I would be concerned but as far as compatibility goes, if its a 2006, you will have no issues with compatibility.

Many thanks for the response. This will be my first radar. Functionally, what does 4kw of power do for me versus 2kw?
