Default SMIS flashing.....

I have a 2006 Suzuki 250 with the SMIS display. So far I love it. Took the boat out for a quick trip around the bay this afternoon. SMIS was flashing (on the fuel manager page). I have read through the manual and can't find any resolution. It reads 129.9, the max fuel capacity ( i have about 60 gal) and dashes in the fuel flow and fuel used. Other pages are just dashes in the value. Any ideas? I am stumped.

It sounds like your fuel management is set for fluid level sensor. You might have to change it to fuel flow. It worked for me. This is how to do it:

To change Fuel Remaining Source:
1. Press MENU, use the UP and DOWN keys to select SYSTEM SETUP and press ENTER. 2. Highlight FUEL SETUP and press ENTER. 3. Select FUEL REM SRC (Fuel Remaining Source) and press ENTER.
4. Highlight the device you want to use to measure remaining fuel — ENG/FFLOW (Engine Fuel Flow) or FLUID LEV SNSR (Fluid Level Sensor) — and press ENTER. You will be taken back to the main display.

Sorry to say, but it sounds like you have a bad Engine Interface Module ( I think it is an EP - 20). Same thing happened to me. All values on the gauge flashing dashes tells me it is probably the same thing.
You can try redoing all the connections. The module should plug into a tee inside the transom, which plugs into the network backbone and runs into the console. Didn't work for me but might be worth a shot. When I did this I found that the tee inside the transom had cracked and allowed moisture to get to the EP 20 plug and corroded it

Nice boat, by the way. I have the same set up. Good luck, hope this helps.

If it turns out to be the module you will lose that info. You might have to update the new EP 20 (engine interface module) and go through the recals and all. Do you have Lowrance electronics? I believe you will need a Lowrance DF/GPS to do the update. The recal will involve filling your gas tank and recalibrating the EP 20 the first couple of times filling up.

I put all this stuff on my boat a couple of years ago and I never would have gotten it done without this forum. Also Browns Point Marine (I think) will probably have everything you need. I believe the EP 20 is only available from Suzuki now (used to be from Lowrance) and Browns Point might have them that are already updated. You will still have to do the recals but you do that with the SMIS gauge.
