Default New Broad band radars. Do they replace or only give better inclose targets

From reading past threads and under standing what I read is that they are better at navigating in close then the old style non broad band. Tho the old high power will give better targets vat long distance. Is this the whole end result? So is a broad band good on ly on a small boat with small batteries and needs or as a secondary radar only, on bigger boats. This is a Question. Since all my experience every day is usually from 4KW or higher Furuno navnets that dont have a broad band option.

More BS hype to get you to spend your money. I have a 6 kw furuno open aaray and pick up a single bird sitting in the water on 1/4 mile range. Just ran a new boat with an entire setup of simrad stuff. Nice shit but worked no better than my navnet 2.

BB is great for inexpensive, close in navigation but not a replacement for the tried n true systems for far away targets. Although my BR24 has shown FL storm cells well enough to avoid getting too close.
