Default JRC Radar 2000 Dome Wiring

Folks,

I purchased a boat with a JRC Radar 2000, I finially had the opportunity to run the unit and it initates but will not show results. I removed the dome and found a black wire with 2 leads unattached. One wire has clear insulation and the second appears to be shield wire. Both have terminal ends connected.

There is a terminal block visable with 2 open slots facing toward the center of the dome, can any tell me the orientation of the wires?

Note: The radar was a bonus on this boat I would have purchased it without the radar but it would be GREAT if it works!

Many thanks...

Page 21, that will tell you the pin out of the terminals. If its the type with the white plastic connectors, the numbers of the pins corresponding to the schematic should be molded into the plastic(small but readable). If you can't read the chart, an electronics guy should be able to figure it out quickly with that diagram.

EDIT: looks like the coax goes right next to power so based on the location of the power cable, you should be able to figure it out.

I've got a JRC 1800 that is doing the same thing. It worked fine one day and the next day, nothing.

mstyle8517, pg 21 shows selecting a range??? PG 14 shows the interconnect diagram. I need to wait for the rain to stop, I think I have Friday and then Irene will start to change my options, I think P1 has the opening and slot 9 would be the insulated (clear) wire and the grey would be the shield termination.

Thanks for the insight.

I was referring to pg 21 of the PDF, which is pg 14 of the manual. Anyways, without the unit in front of me, I can't give you a proper recommendation, but I will say that you definitely should not put anything other than a white wire (not clear, white) in slot 9. These schematics need to be followed precisely, anything that is incorrectly connected could have you shopping for a new radar. I would make absolutely sure everything is in its right place before powering this up - this isn't something that can be done on a trial and error basis.

However, what's friggen weird about that schematic is that on the display side, P402, it shows a "blk", but there is no "blk" anywhere on the scanner. I'm going to take a wild guess an and say that the "blu" in 2 and 3 on the P1 connector should actually be "blk" and that was a typo - surely they didn't change the color somewhere within the interconnect cable. That is probably what needs to be plugged in. Even though JRC is pretty much out of the recreational market, I received pretty good tech help on a 1500MKII I was working on a couple of weeks ago. I would give them a call. Good luck
