Default cheap kvh heading sensor

has anyone tried using one of these heading sensors to provide heading info to a furuno radar system

Since it puts out NMEA data stream for heading, it should work. However, I have had the experience that Furuno occasionally does not use exactly the same sentencing, and there is not always good "NMEA communications"....

This sure would be a cheap heading sensor option, if it will work.
However I dont fancy being a guinea pig.
