Default More SMIS glitches

OK Guys, I have a 2007 DF200 with two Suzuki digital gauges (4" ones) My backbone cable has the older blue connectors. When I orderd my start up kit, I also ordered the Suzuki GPS puck. They sent out the starter kit with gauges but told me that the puck was on back order. A month later they call me and say that the Suzuki puck was discontinued and they would send the new Lowrance puck which cost a few dollars more but they would give me a Black to Blue conversion cable. After I reconfigured everything I was able to get speed by GPS along with position. The problem I am having is that it will not tell me mpg. The window just flashes dashes on the gauge. Sometimes when I start the engine, the gauges will not display any info unless I shut the engine off and restart. Any ideas? I have been dealing with this for a year now.

Hi Richard

One thing I'd suggest that you check is the software version on your interface cable. As it is the older superseded blue connector version, every chance that it has not had the software update that was released around 6 months or so ago applied. The version I am running is vers 2.30 and I believe that to be the latest available. So check yours and see which version you are running and perhaps consider updating.

The software update file has to be copied to an SD card and applied via any Lowrance head unit that takes SD cards - the update procedure is pretty straightforward. If you cant get a copy of the file from Lowrance or Suzuki PM me and I'll send you a copy.

The other (probably first) thing to do is to check your data sources - make sure the SMIS is set to give you MPG based on ground speed, that way it will use the GPS data to do the calculation.

Cheers

ML

Thanks for the reply, I did do the update about 3 months ago. I will try your other suggestion though.

Thanks Rich
