Default speaker help

Hi,
I wanted to install speakers in my two round deck hatches. I measured and 6.5'' should fit, any problems with that?

Thanks
Mark

I assume those hatches are mounted vertical in the gunnel? My first concern would be that the magnet on a 6.5" speaker is pretty substantial. After time, I'd be worried that the clasping action on the hatch would wear out and you'd be constantly popping the speaker/hatch back into place.

I was planning on removing the hatch completely and then installing the speaker. They only give me access to a through hull so I could always unscrew if need be.

No problem with it. A lot of builders often use speaker locations that double as access points. Yeah, you have to remove 4 screws, but...

Run with it, if the locations will give you the sound you want...

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem then.

just as a heads up, make sure the hole in your support isnt 6.5inches because if the actual hole is that big(not the pie plate overall) a 6.5 speaker will not fit without a conversion plate. A 6.5in speaker is the overall measurement of the speaker and actually requires a smaller whole then 6.5 inches.
