Has anyone with an HDS-7 installed the 4.0 update? if yes have you noticed better performance? Redraw speeds?

Any issues with redraw sppeds are gone with 4.0. I am running the New Navionics Fish N chip which has a lot of data. With the original software it would lock up for 5 seconds at a time. Those issues are gone. It does initially run slow when the machine first boots, but I am running structure scan, sonic hub and radar on my network so I think it takes a minute or two for the whole system to boot and allow me to zoom and pan. Once its up and running there are no issues.

Ok and is that HDS7? Demo machines in my area are all running 3.5, initially those redraw speeds got me looking at other untis then the 4.0 softare came out and "they say" they fixed the performance issue but since the demo machines are all 3.5 cant see what that means. I read the release notes but those are for all HDS units.

Thanks any other comments out there?

I have an HDS10 - I would think they should operate the same.

For what it's worth... The HDS 8 and 10's have higher 600 x 800 screen pixel counts. The HDS 7 has a 480 x 640 screen pixel count.

The screen redraw should be slightly faster on an HDS 7 when compaired to a HDS 8 or 10 but most likely not noticible.

When using Navionics charts the redraw speed is varying depending of chart version. Charts which are between 2.5 years and 6 months old are much slower especially on HDS than newer and older charts. Free updates are available for download from Navionics for some of the affected charts.

When using new charts and version 4.0 HDS is surprisingly fast.
