Default Is it worth getting a DDT scanner for an Optimax?

Gentlemen,
Had several small issues with a remanufactured 2006 Optimax 22HP I just purchased. All of the issues thus far are due to clogged oil hose line not able to feed the resevoir, tach not reading due to hook up improperly, and lastly we needed to blow out the flush line due to sand being clogged and wasn't peeing. All of these issues caused the engine to run in guardina mode. It is once again in guardian mode and have no clue why. I would like to know if purchasing a smartcraft scanner with the appropriate software, v1.3 would be benefiical and worth the money spent. My mechanic was able to resolve all the issues addressed without going to a Merc dealer so far, but getting tired of the trial and error methodology. I am taking it to a Merc dealer in a couple days just to have it scanned to see the new issue and the history. Any help is greatly appreciated and also would like to know what accessories I may need if I do purchase.
