I am now firing up the unit really for the first time since I bought it in the Fall. I am unable to get the "junk" out of the top of the display that should show a water line but actually shows a line that extends down (toward the bootom and across the screen)perhaps and inch or so on my screen. I do have the unit in the auto gain setting but I am sure some of the whizz's out there know how to reduce the clutter just below the water line. Any help would surely be appreciated. Thanks.

Try putting it in manual mode and adjust the gain. Also if you can set ranges on that machine pick one appropriate for the depth you are fishing. I had the same problem on a 1650WF and adjusting the gain and set ranges cleared up the problem
