What is the budget of the prize? How much more do you want to spend? Do you want a combo machine or seperates?

Sorry but we need a little more to go on there.

I have a Lowrance LCX-15MT. Great unit. Have used it for a year, with two extra navionics chips.

Would love to have color. 16Ci's still can be found, some on eBay, but your "Lowrance $$$" may need to be spent at a dealer. Don't recommend the new 18CX unit - not enough pixels (it is like the old 15C uint).

19C unit looks great, has a faster processork, but you'd have to double your budget.

Good luck,
Brian

I just picked up a LCX-16CI w/200khz Tm Trans for $899 at Cabelas. I called Lowrance before I bought this unit. The tech. I spoke too told me that it was exactly the same unit with a faster processor. I asked him about the screen size and he told me they just use a different measurement to get the larger screen size. I haven't seen the new 19 to confirm this.

This unit can be bought from Cabelas with the GPS feature, but I believe it is the older non WAAS ant. I am going to buy the ant.($199)and the Navionics chip($185)from Consumer Marine. You can also get the Mapcreate package for $259.

Some clarification, please.

Are you saying that the Lowrance rep indicated that the processor in the new 19C was faster than the 16CI?

Thanks,

I have seen both at Cabela's in KC. The 19 is a MUCH larger screen.

ocnslr - the way it was explained to me - the faster processor in the 19 allows for quicker redraws of the mapping page.

psilvers - thanks for clarifying the screen issue.

I finally saw the new Lowrance 19c at the local West Marine. I measured the screen on the 19c and when I returned home I measured the 16ci. They are exactly the same size screen, - 5.5"WX4"H. Now I guess eveyone will be able to sleep better tonight.

Actually, Lowrance lists the 19C with a 7" screen, and the 16Ci with a 6.38" screen. Both have 640x480 resolution.
The 19C processor is a good bit faster, and the screen refresh is faster as a result.
I just upgraded from a 15MT to a 16CI. Couldn't afford the 19C..

ocnslr - I took a tape measure to both screens. They are exactly the same. As I have previously stated - I spoke to one of the techs at Lowrance and he told me that they were the same size screen. They just measured it differently for the 19C. Go figure.

Put the Lowrance on Ebay and buy Furuno or Raymarine.

I'm tired of getting jerked around by Lowrance. Products never work for long, service takes forwever and is expensive. Own a Lowrance product? Never again.
