Default Furuno 600L Hints/Tips Wanted

Guys,

Here is my boat with the Furuno 600L with the Transducer mounted to my WhalerDrive bracket.
I found out today, I hit a homerun with the install, since i got solid readings at 40mph !

I wonder how you guys feel about using this in the manual mode vs. Auto. I've got to read the manual better, but saw that you can adjust the frequency in either mode (50 or 200mhz), and needed to do it (downward) to get good readings in shallow water.

It seems that there are lots of ways to adjust this unit, and although again, I need to read the manual again, I was hoping someone had some quick tips to help me with the learning curve.

BTW, I marked known structure very very well.

The 600L has a feature that is not in the manual, it will detect fish better. When bottom fishing set the range scale to match the relief size, 5' relief 10' scale, 10' relief 20 scale, etc. Got my first three scales set to 10, 20 ,30. Now use your shift key to shift down until you see the bottom. Now the machine is looking at only the bottom on the whole screen, not a split screen. What a difference this makes. Hope this helps.

Mr. T:

I pitty the fool who doesn't know that.

Thanks for the info., that sounds very very interesting and useful. I thought I read about that right when I got the 600L, but lost the post.

I went to a boat show and asked the Furuno rep about that and he said "nope, got to have split screen to do dat".

I fish 90% on the bottom too, so that is super.
