Default 'Bird matrix 35 vs. Lowrance X88, or others - recommendations

Lookin into getting either a LOWRANCE X88 or a HUMMINBIRD Matrix 35....Any recommendations??

FYI: If ya go to the HUMMINBIRD website you can get a coupon for a $50.00 GPS (reg $ over 100.00)('till 7/03) add-on to the Matrix line. That gives you the top-line 'Bird (grayscale) w/GPS for 350.00 USD... but is the Matrix line any good??

Questions...Questions: The X88 has a better LCD unit, more pixtels/cm...whereas the 'Bird has more wattage, more transducer frequencies, overs a larger area, etc.

What's an angler to do??

I just installed the Matrix 25 on my skiff last week and ordered the antenna. It read very well and I like the various screen options so far.web page
