Default Do I need new electronics ???

Hi all,

I am getting ready to move up to a new boat (either sailfish 266 or polar 27) and I am also contemplating getting new electronics as well. I currently have the Navman tracker 5500c plotter and the lowrance X97 fishfinder. The dealer that I have been dealing with recommends the raymarine C80 which he charges ~$2200 for installed (complete)...which seems like a pretty good price. With the new boat I pretty much intend to fish both the gulf and the atlantic, and maybe the occasional trip to the bahamas. Would this be a recommended upgrade??, lateral move??, overkill????

Thanks,

Fredric

You never NEED new electronics... but a C80 combo unit on a new boat, flush mounted in the dash would look pretty nice...

A new boat deserves new electronics!
If you don't get the new electronics now, you'll probably think about all winter and then do it anyway next spring.

thanks, Fishing-Rod

What Fishing Rod said. I just ordered an AC Coastal Bay 2310 and I am getting all brand new toys (electronics) on it.

I gotta agree; if you can swing it, I'd upgrade to new electronics now. Sooner or later you will and it's always fun with a 'new sheet of paper'. It's often not whether you need it or not BUT 'will you be happier with it'. Get the new electronics. Don't know who your dealer is, but might I suggest a conversation with www.consumersmarine.com , they will give you an unbiased opinion on the various Brands; plus and minuses. Good guys. FWIW, we are currently leaning toward Raymarine, for a lot of reasons.

I disagree with the first poster who said "..you NEVER need..."

You ALWAYS NEED "new electronics".

Ok, you guys have me convinced

New electronics it will be........I guess it 'll be worth it!....and besides, since the dealer installs it, I'll just bake it in to the boat-loan.......won't hardly notice the added cost at all

Now if I could only decide on the boat.............

I just installed a C120 and dsm250 on a 1999 Searay 48' for the same reason. He just got the boat and he wanted all new electronics.
