Default new 2010c no beacon rcvr

I was just going over the wiring diagram for garmins 2010c and noticed that the dgps beacon rcvr is'nt incuded with the 17 sensor. It's extra, imagine that.Dose it make that much of a differance in the accuracy?I bottom fish some small pieces and pretty close dos'nt cut it.

The WAAS antenna that comes with the unit will put you where you want. The dgps is not necessary.

The differential receiver has always been a seperate item. With most GPS's with differential you'll get both a seperate antenna along with a seperate converter box, but there are hardly any GPS's with differential being sold today as WAAS is the current technology & as silverg said above, dgps is not necessary unless for some reason you have a need for differentrial. Almost all hard wired GPS's sold today come standard with WAAS capability built into the GPS's antenna and receiver.

silverg-first light...thats was my thought as well. The reason I ask is after spending the $$$ I'd like to think i'm getting all I can out of the unit. The old ray unit had the beacon antena built into the sensor but niether ray or garmin would sign off on me using the old antena. Thanks for the help.

Pipefighter, The Garmin 2010c does come standard with WAAS, which is more accurate than DGPS. I have the same unit and find it extremely accurate.

In most instances, straight GPS is accurate to within 15 meters. With DGPS, it brings the accuracy down to within 5 meters. With WAAS, the accuracy is to within 3 meters.
