Garmin G2 upgrade worth it?????

Default Garmin G2 upgrade worth it?????

I have a 4208 and want to hear from those who bought that G2 upgrade.
I specificly would like to know if the underwaterline 3D is or in your oppinion is worth the price of the upgrade???

If you are comparing the base maps in the 42xx to the G2 Vision chips, it is definately worthwhile to upgrade to the vision chips.

The charts tom shows above are location specific. Some areas have that level of detail and others don't. But it is still useful to have.

One thing you will notice is that you will have to play with the zoom function to find a layer where it shows the bathy detail. It's a hinky result of how garmin manages different maps in a common location. So if you don't see the detail you want, you may have to zoom in or out to get it displayed.

Otherwise they are much better than the base charts. They are also updated more frequently. Of course that means you have to upgrade the chips, but they don't often update the base charts so the G2 charts are more current.
