Default Difference between ICOM 402 & 502

I will be regging my new Dusky 23CC with the following electronics.

Furuno 600l w/thru-hull
Garmin 182c
ICOM 402 or 502
Digital 8' Antennae

I can't decide if it is worth getting the ICOM 502 over the 402. Both have DSC so what is the difference??

Any other recomendations on the other electronics??

They are almost the same, I would suspect they ARE the same inside (components wise). They have a different mounting shape and, the 502 has a knob to change channels while the 402 has buttons to change the channels.

Off the cuff, I'd say it's the command/ remote mike feature that is available on the 502.

roop,
Nope. Thats available on both. they both use the same mic and same commander mic. 502 has slightly larger display.

anflyer,

I had the same decision to make last year and chose the 402. Performace is great, but if I had it to do over again, I'd pick the 502 because:

1. bigger buttons
2. bigger display
3. faster, easier channel selection (knob on 502 vs. buttons on 402)
