Default Garmin Sonar

Hi All. Just after a little info on Garmin Sonar as they have not been popular down under and the new units havent been around long here.

How would you compare the Garmin to Furuno and Lowrance?

What would the Garmin be capable of with the GSD 22 and 2kw transducer? Good bottom detail in 1500ft?

Is there anyway to connect commercial rubber transducers to the unit or do they have to be the 8 pin versions? (Dont have room to fit R99, R199).

Sorry for all the questions.

Some of your questions I can't really answer, re: the transducers, but when comparing the three; Lowarance is at the bottom of the list, then Garmin, and finally Furuno. Furuno is top of the line commercial grade equipment. Garmin quality isn't even close to Furuno. And Lowrance, good entry level unit...period...

I agree with Irish, but don't compromise on the transducer!

For only 1500' there is really no need for a 2kw transducer.

The B260 or M260 is more than capable for 1500' and deeper..the B260 being a bit better for depths past 2000'.

And I would go with the Furuno every time.

Thanks for that. I run a 585 with m260 now and the detail doesnt compare at those depths to a 2kw on say a Furuno 295. It does work but just doesnt have the detail.
I am looking to be able to zoom in on the bottom 100ft or less and identify single large fish.
