Default Electric over hydraulic brake fix

I have just fixed a problem with my tri axle trailer brakes I thought I would share

inside the fluid reservoir (depending on models ) their is a fluid pick up tube about 50 mil 2'' on the end is a very fine wire mess to stop particles entering the system mine was completlly covered in gunk the brakes could not work because of the lack of fluid entering the system ... a quick fix would be to use a toothbrush via the fill cap to scrub it I dismantled mine and cleaned it

With this tube blocked had i lost the trailer from the tow vehicle even the ermergency brake facility would have failed

Soooooooo.................what caused the gunk?

How old is your system? Just asking because mine is three years old & brake fluid has a "use by" date.
