Default garmin 182

i broke the connector for the antenna on my garmin 182(that plugs into the display).
can i get one of these at an electronics store like radio shack, or would this be a garmin item only?

If it's the standard conector I'm thinking of, yes RS would have it. A marina would too and would have more corrosion resistant ones as well. Be careful replacing it, it's not too bad, but a little tricky.

West Marine has a very good BNC connector that requires no soldering and seems to work very well. I have one on my 182C. I had to cut the original connector off in order to snake the cable to the ebox.

Based on my experience with Garmin, a simple phone call will get you what you need. To date, they have sent me a PC/AC adapter cable, a new screen cover, and replacement mounting knobs for my 240, all at no charge.
