Default New sound system

Hello all-

I am planning on upgrading the system on my boat, a 02 Regal 2900. After reading the great reviews on JL Audio speakers I have decided to install 4 M650's, 2 M770's and a Clarion CMD6 head unit and remotes. My question is do I need to replace the stock Kenwood amp (4/500)? Also, should I substitute one pair of the M650's for the 770's?

Thanks

You dont have to replace the amp. But if i was going to spend the money on new speakers id spend the money to get the amp that will give them as much power as they can handle. It looks like your amp is good for 40 x 4 rms. Which if you power the mx series 650s you would be fine. But of rthe m series they can handle alot more power. All about money and how much you want to spend and how loud you want it to be. Maybe grab another 4 channel amp from jl and run your 7.7s off it and then bridge a sub on the last 2 channels and run your 650s off the 4 channel you currently have. I like loud.

Brad,

Thanks for your reply. I went with 2 pairs of MX650's for the stock holes because of space, a pair of M770's, a 10" JL sub, the stock Kenwood amp for the MX's and a Clarion 4/90 amp for the others. I also added LED speaker rings.
