Default What speakers?

I'm having a new boat built, and I have to order speakers. I have the clarion cd/dvd player and a nice clarion amp. This came out of my previous boat with around 40 hours on it. Anyway, I did have 4 6.5'' (I think) round bazooka speakers for base, and 4 square polyplaners for highs. I was told by the installer that the bazooka speakers I used are no longer made. It actually sounded pretty good for the money, and you could feel the bass when it was turned up. I had never had a stereo like that on a boat, but now couldn't be without it. A good stereo is great when taking the girls on a booze cruise. haha..

Anyway, what would be a good speaker setup for bass you can feel and nice highs? I'm looking for the best deal for the money. That's what I liked about the bazookas. They were decent and cheap. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a brand new 10'' JL sub up for sale. Just bought 4 7.7 JL speakers and the sub but didn't have enough room for the sub.

Whatever you do go with JL if you dont want to replace it all in a year.

JL Audio. I have fusion receiver and amps, and I like those just fine. But the fusion speakers are just ok and I think the JL Audio speakers are much better.

I just installed a set of JL Audio MX650 speakers to replace a pair of Clarion speakers. I bought them after readign on here everyone ranting abotu how good they are. Well, I can now concurr, they are VERY good speakers. With no other changes to my system, just swapping out 6.5" Clarions to the JL 6.5" speakers, it's louder, cleaner, crisper, lower lows, higher highs. I'm really happy with these,

JL. I have tried everything on my Tiara. From Clarion, Sony and Fusion. Those JL are truly the best. Not very cheap, but worth it!

JL speakers and amp. They are so clear you swear there is a band on your boat. Little on the pricey side but well worth the hard work! We play them as loud as we can and still cant blow them.

Anyone know if there is a "non-marine" version of the MS-650 speakers? i put a pair in the cockpit, they sound awesome. I'd like to replace my cabin speakers with a pair as well, but they dont' need to be UV/waterproof, so instead of $200 for a pair, maybe can get same speakers for $100 for "indoor" use???

The JL separates were built early on for master craft as they wanted the tweeters in a diff spot. The music for boats is actually a bt better with the coaxial - something about the music being on the same plane. The coaxial is now a huge % of their sales - like 80% or so....saves you from putting another hole in the boat too...same price.

Can anyone provide the depth of the JL MX650s? I have a spot on the sides of my console that I'm looking to mount some 6.5s, but the JLs look to be deeper than most. The depth may be a factor in the console due to the inset gauge/glove box.
