Default Navionics Wanted Cape Cod-Montauk

I am looking for a navionics chip for my Northstar. This 32 meg chart is no longer available from Navionics. It is one chip that covers Cape Cod - Montauk and it bears number US182T32 or US182S32. Although the chip is no longer current, it is of use to me. Anyone have one looking to sell?

Sorry - C-map will not work with my Northstars.

I recently purchased a boat from Cape Cod that has a 952 with a navionics card of that area. I will check the chart this weekend and let you know. The card is of no particular use to me because the boat is now in Seattle.

Thanks. Please check the number on the Navioncs chart/chip so I can make sure it is the same one I am looking for. Also, since I believe that the 952 and 951 use the same size chart (postage stamp size), it should work fine. Just a little tidbit for you on the 952. It can use the new Navionics XL charts but my 951 will only display those new charts down to 2 miles--that is why I am looking for this older chart.

I was up on my boat in Seattle over the weekend. I have the Navionics chart card that came with the boat. It is for "Cape Cod - Montauk" and has chart code US182S32. (I also have the little plastic case it came in.) I will offer it to you for a reasonable price. This card works in both the 951 and 952.

Please email me if you would like the chart card.

Can anyone tell me which one of these formats offer the most chart like detail.
We use the Northstar 952 XD something or other on the Tug, and it has really good detail.

Thanks

I can't tell you whether the Navionics products or the Blue Charts products offer the best detail, because I have not used Blue Charts. In any case, to my knowledge Blue Charts won't fit a Northstar 952, so I don't really think about it.

Maybe I will be able to get some feedback from someone who has seen both? I don't understand why garmin doesn't have more screen shots so that you can get a good idea what to expect with the real thing.

Thanks

I've seen both at the local West Marine. Spent quite a while looking at and playing with both. (Thanks WM)

From what I saw, the newer version XL is pretty darn close to Bluecharts. If I were making a decision based solely on the chart cartridge detail, I'd probably go with Bluecharts. They do have a few very minor details over the Navionics card. But probably so small that most would never know the difference. Just make sure you are looking at the new Navionics XL and not the older style Navionics cards (there is a significant difference there!). As others on the board have said, your decision should be based on the GPS unit features you like. IMHO, the cards are so close that they should, at best, be only a minor factor in your 'what-GPS-should-I-buy' decision process.

Jlr, have you contacted Northstar about updating the software in your machine to read the new charts. Just a thought.
