Default Simrad CE33

Is anyone familiar with this unit? The Simrad CE33

And how it might compare to the

Furuno 1850WF or the
JRC 500F

Thanks

I have the CE32 on my small boat and can highly recommend it. The CE33 I believe is WASS equipped and the control panel is a little better. Chart/GPS/Finder combo - good stuff.

I have had this unit for almost a year now. Not familiar with the others you mentioned so I can't compare. I have been please with it. It redraws/updates quickly. The manual is crap, but the tech. support is awesome. You can call them from your boat on the water and they will step you through anything step by step. It's easy to operate once you get familiar with it. I had some trouble with the transducer at first. But re-termination of the connections appears to have fixed that. Simrad was going to replace the entire unit, if that hadn't fixed the problem. I'm able to read bottom at 40MPH. I had some problems with the screen fogging up, sent the unit back and they put in new seals, a new LCD screen, a new back panel and new software all under warranty. The screen is bright and easy to view in direct sunlight. It's a quailty unit and should compare well with the others you mentioned. My choice was between the simrad and the furuno. Just happend I got the simrad unit for $400 less than the furuno unit.

I have the CE32 (predecessor of the 33) and I like it. The only complaints I have is the lack of dual screens. That is you cannot view 50 and 200 kHz at the same time. Maybe they corrected this on the new one.

Yeah, I forgot to add that. You can't look at 50 and 200Khz at the same time. And there is no A-scope feature either, on the 33.

There is an A-scope on the CE33. Pushing echo once brings it up. Push again it goes away. Push and hold it switches frequency.

I'll give it a try. There is no mention of it in the manual, not that that suprises me. Thanks for the info.
