Default Suzuki DF200 & LMF400 Fuel Burn Issues

I have a Suzuki 2007 DF200 and Lowrance LMF400 Gauges. Boat is a 22' blazer bay.

I have been unable to get realistic fuel burn numbers from my gauges. My gauge shows +/-10 GPH at idle and +/-40 GPH at 3000rpm. As such, my fuel remaining value is way off.

As an example, during a typical fishing day my gauge will indicate that I have burned 30 gallons. But, when i refill my tank I can usually only get 8-10 gallons in (60 gal capacity tank).

Have tried recalibrating without any improvement. Have taken my rig back to the dealer, but he has been unable to help.

All other gauge functions (RPM, voltage, trim indicator, etc. ) work fine.

Has anyone with a similar motor and gauge setup had these issues.

Any thoughts on how to correct?

Thanks in advance!

Are you using the EP-10, EP-20 or the Suzuki Engine Interface (Which is a re-branded EP-20)? If you have the wrong setting or software version the interface will report much too high fuel consumption.

If you have an EP-20 connected to a 2007 or older engine it will report wrong unless the software is updated. For The Suzuki engine interface (Suzuki #88034) both the year and the model of the engine will have to be set correctly, this is most probably also the situation for EP-20 with updated software since I believe these are identical.

As above, if you are using the engine interface there was a (major) bug that lead to incorrect readings. You'll need the firmware file and a lowrance head unit to update. You may find my posts on the issue a couple years back, I kidnapped a suzuki rep from the fort lauderdale boat show and had him fix mine.

Rob-thanks for the reply

Abbor & Flot- Yes I am using the EP-20/Suzuki Interface. Firmware update sounds like what i need.

I am looking through the Lowarance site now to try to find the update, but i am unable to find it. Can you tell me where you got yours?

Very surprised that my dealer did not have this info.

THANKS for your help! Looking foward to knowng how much fuel is in the tank!

I don't think the EP-20 software updates has ever been posted on the Lowrance site. Contact Lowrance support for the files.

Found EP-20 at the Lowrance pages

http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Mar...ine-Interface/

You probably have to contact Suzuki for support:

Please call the Suzuki Customer service line at 714-572-1490, Suzuki’s part number for the engine interface is 990C0-88034.

I have a firmware update "EP_20_SuzukiEngine_v220" that I would be happy to email to anyone needing it. Seems not to have helped my calibration dilemma though

I have what I believe is the most recent firmware update for the Suzuki/Lowrance engine interface. Received from a fellow Ausfish forum member.

It is version 2.3.0 RR30D

If anyone wants it, just PM me your email and I will send it.

It has resolved fuel flow issues etc that a number of us here in Aussie have been battling with for some time.

Cheers

ML
