DSC Help please
I've tried searching the forum with no luck so if someone could give me some guidance it would be greatly appreciated. My boat came with a Eagle Intellimap 480 GPS Chartplotter installed in the electronics box. I've upgraded to a Lowrance HDS 7 and mounted it on top of the console. I was debating on keeping the Eagle unit as a back up. I have a Lowrance LVR-250 VHF installed right above the Eagle. The radio is DSC capable via NMEA 0183and the Eagle unit has a NMEA 0183 input and output. I've read through the Eagle manual but can't find anything about DSC. Does anyone know if I can get this function with these two units? It will just be easier to connect everything in the electronics box vs. fishing wiring down my T-top tubing to get at the HDS 7.

Quick answer you can connect the NMEA out on the Eagle to the NMEA in on the VHF.

To get GPS data from the Eagle to the VHF, hook up Eagle yellow to LVR yellow and Eagle bare wire to LVR green. That should do it.

the gps sensor manual may have the nmea specs. that antenna is independently wired to the unit and the nmea cables may be there. Remember to get an MSSI number.
