Default Lowrance GDM working with HDS units?? AAArrrggghhh!

Hi all

I have been using Lowrance's free GPS data management software "GDM" for quite a few years to back up, upload and download data from LMS and Eagle units and to edit such files.

Having upgraded to HDS5m GPS a few months ago, I had saved .usr files from my LMS and loaded them onto a SD card, and uploaded them successfully to the HDS5m. All good so far....

However the problem now is with downloading from the HDS5m to the SD card and getting GDM to be able to open the file. No matter what I do it doesn't work.

There are 3 format options on the HDS that you can save the file in: I have saved my waypoints etc in all 3 versions onto the SD card, and GDM wont work with any of them. Vers 3 causes GDM to crash, the others just do nothing.

It doesn;t seem logical that the SD card is the problem because it is the same SD card that I copied the .usr file from GDM onto and uploaded to the HDS, so seems logical that if the HDS will "talk" to this card to upload files from it, it should also download to it as well???

Anybody figured out the solution, succeeded already, or ideas?
