Default AP-11 prices and install

Any idea where to get the best price for the AP-11? Should I wait till I goto the NY and AC boat shows to see what boat show prices will be?

Also, can I interface this unit with both my radar/chartplotter unit and my GPS unit? If I order the unit, is there any options that need to be ordered....such as compass, junction box, etc. Is it worth upgrading any of the standard equipment offered?

Thanks in advance.

http://www.dbmarime.com has pretty good prices. Actually I was suprised at the good deals they had on the AP35, as well as the AP11. I have not ordered from them yet, but am seriously considering it. I have, however, purchased from brokenleg dave.com and consumersmarine.com. Great results with both.

I recently purchased the AP-11 from www.consumersmarine.com for 1899 (shipping included). I am very happy with the unit. I didn't upgrade any of the standard equipment. It came with the J3000X junction box, and the fluxgate compass. If you need to interface to radar AND a chartplotter, I think you need to upgrade the junction box to the J300X as the J3000X only has one NMEA port.

SeaNile.
Installed the AP-12 a year ago and have had no problems with the unit.
Why would you want to inter face the AP-11 with other equipment?
Use the interface from your GPS for that function.
May be wrong but open for comments.

I just want to make sure everything interfaces OK. I know many friends that buy the latest electronics and because they are not interfaced properly are reduced to an entry level piece of equipment. My main concern is being able to hit a destination from 65 miles away and have the GPS and autopilot talk to eachother so I stay on course. The AP-11 would be interfaced with a Furuno GP-36 DGPS. I can't see this being too difficult for these two to be interfaced. Now as for the install....that will be a little challenge!

Thanks for the replies.

The J300X allows the autopilot to be directly interfaced with the radar. In my case I want to overlay the radar and plotter displays on my NAVnet display. The J300X supplies the necessary information to the display. If I did not have the J300X I would have to buy the Furuno heading sensor to provide the information.

I bought my AP-11 from Consumer Marine. I also upgraded to the rate compass. It provides much more accurate heading information than the standard fluxgate compass.
