Default GPS ant. internal or external

Looking for a low budget chartplotter and am wondering if an internal antenna will work on the dash of my Wellcraft V-20. The only thing blocking the view would be the windshield and its frame. I very rarely use the bimini top. I'm looking at the Standard CP 160 or possibly the Navman 5100i. Right now the Navman is available with a free fuel transducer. I can get the plotter for less than the price of a floscan. Not that that justifies the selection of a plotter. Thanks for any help.

Airslot,

The internal antenna will be fine for your application. There are some more posts on this topic. To find them, use the search fucntion. Basically, internal is fine unless you have a hard top.

my garmin has internal antenna and i use it under a bimini top. never a problem. accuracy reads just as good with top up or down.
also have a friend that has a boat with cuddy and bimini top and same garmin.

I've got a Navman 5100i....new and in the box never used if you are interested. The fuel flow function is awesome.
