Default Sea Volt Batteries

Checking the boat out the night before a fishing trip and the battery was dead to the world. So, I ran up to West Marine and picked up a Sea Volt battery (their deep cycle model) and installed it. Now I want to pick up a 2nd battery and hook it up with a Perko dual battery switch. But since I'm not in a hurry this time, what is everyones views on the Sea Volt batteries and should I use the same type battery for the dual hook up or go to a different brand? I have a 20' Pro Line CC with a 135 Honda.

Thanks,

DWC

They are made by East Penn-Deka. Identical to the Deka branded batteries except they slap the West Marine name on them.

I bought a set about a month ago. WM matched the local Deka distributor price. No complaints here.

As Parthery says, Deka/West are decent batteries. Your second question, different brand, size or function (starting, deep charge, etc.) will make no difference to your planned installation. What COULD make a difference, and I'd suggest you avoid it with a simple system like yours, is different battery TECHNOLOGIES: flooded, glass mat, gel etc. They can require different charging parameters, so I'd just avoid mixing them.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go with the same battery.
