Default Location for external GPS antenna

I have a 20 W/A without a hard top and just purshase a garmin 182c GPS. My question is where would I want to locate the external antenna. This is my first boat and for that matter my first GPS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mount it on top of the T-Top.

West Marine has rubrail to antenna mounts that will work. That will keep you from drilling the T-Top itself until you get the hard top and decide on a final place for it.

I ran my ant. wire down through the bildge area and out the hole for the outboard motor and sat my ant next to the cables to the motor. Works fine and I did not need to drill any holes

Mounted mine on the bow railing. No problems so far.
