Default Furuno Radar questions (1623/RSB-0060

I got a boat with a RSB-0060 radome that looked to be in good physical condition. It is pristine inside the cover. I picked up a 1623 unit to try with it. I had googled a Japanese doc that listed them together so I assume they are compatible.
I connect them, power up the unit, let it warm up and try to switch from Stand-by to TX, it says No Heading Pulse and No Bearing Pulse.
The trouble shooting docs say to check the antenna connection, which seems to be fine.

Does anyone have any more in depth diagnostic tests? The antenna does not turn at all. It is easily turned by hand so the motor and gears are in good shape.

Does anyone know if the 1623 is really compatible with a Type RSB-0060 antenna?

Thanks for any help,
John

You should be contacting FurunoUSA on this. I have a 1623 and the antenna is an RSB 0093.

Looking at the FurunoUSA website, it would appear that the 0060 unit was compatible with the 1621/1621M2/1622 units.

I don't know for certain on yours but Furuno techs are easily contacted on the phone. If your antenna was spinning (when out of St-By) you would hear it, especially at the closest distances where it spins faster. I always know when mine is spinning, even in the cabin.

Manuals for all these models are on line (In English).

To go from standby to transmit, you touch the PWR/Brill button then the Mode key.

There is a spec sheet at http://www.furuno.no/files/documents/m1623.pdf (norway, not japan)
It lists the 1623 with an RSB-0060.
I tried emailing FurunoUSA this weekend, but no response yet. Hoping someone would know a way to diagnose an antenna or box problem
Thanks!
John

Yep, your link would sure lead me to think it should work. Maybe the manual will help you trouble shoot it.

I have had it take a couple days on an email, but on the phone it seems I'm almost always routed to a tech immediately.

All I get on the scanner test is NG(0) Also zero hours on/tx time.
It says to keep refreshing the page, but no luck.

John, make sure you post results when you find the answers and we're always interested in the service experience you received even for second hand equipment.

If you still have not heard back, I'd log in and check your history on the website. Once I did not see any reply for some reason but my history showed they had replied quite quickly.

Default Heard back from Furuno

I finally heard back from Furuno.
The tech said the RSB-0060 antenna is not compatible with a 1623.
I mentioned the above document but he wasn't interested in anything from Norway.

So... anyone have a 093 Radome they want to get rid of reallly cheap?
Or anyone want to buy a good condition 1623 for not so cheap?

Did you ever find a buyer for the RSB 0060 radome?
