Default Upgrade to Garmin GSD22 from Furuno 582L?

I use a Garmin 4208 for GPS and Radar (and I have a GSD22 that I am not using), and I have a Furuno 582L fishfinder. I fish in SE Florida.

For those that have experience using the recent GSD22 upgrade, do you like the performance and is it worth buying a 1KW transducer and switching over to the Garmin for my fishfinder?

What's wrong with the 582? Is it working ok? Why replacing...?

The GSD22 works fine, but the downside in your case is you would be running it in split screen on the 8" display, instead of having / keeping the separate Furuno display.

I've had both = if the 582 is working, keep it. The Garmin is nowhere close.

The 582 is no longer made. I don't know why...awesome machine once you master it. Have you priced those transducers for your GSD22? Pricey. I picked up a used great shape 582 for 500, just so I'd have one. I love that machine.

I in installing a 6212 and I am getting a stand alone 585 for a fish finder. I would stick with the furuno.

I love my 582L but I would expect the extra 400 watts to make the Garmin better. Didn't they get the bugs worked out at Garmin with the latest sounder updates???

The GSD22 update is nice, and some of the issues have been worked out. Still not a Furuno.
