Default Garmin 545s

I have the Garmin 545s Chartplotter. Its on the beginning of the 3rd year and I have depth freezing problems. It freezes up when I'm moving at cruising speeds. The GPS works fine but I can't use the fish finder because the screen freezes up on it. Sometimes it will start to work again on its own other times I have to restart the unit. I originally had a transon transducer and they told me that the tranducer is picking up air bubbles from the engine. I then bought a thru hull transducer and installed it this year. It worked great the first 7 times out but has failed everytime since. Garmin says they think its air bubbles from the bottom of the boat. There is nothing in front of the location and my boat Manufactor told me excactly where I should put it. I feel strongly that its something else wrong with it. Why did it work for the first year and also why did it work the first 7 times out this year and all of a sudden fail ever since? They want $240 to look at it. Thats 25% of what the unit costs and I really dont want to spend another $240 on it since it just cost me $200 for the thru hull transducer and which that didn't help. They also said they didnt think it was the unit. I updated all the latest software on it. Anyone else have this problem and know what the best remedy is for it?

I had the exact problem with my 545s, it would just freeze and then, sometimes start working again and most of the time would require shutting down and a restart and it would work again- I just bought a Furuno FCV-620 sounder and use the 545 for gps only and have not had a problem in the last year and a half plus I more than doubled my screen sizes. The garmin works well for gps but not very well for a sounder imo.-

What? I would hate to buy a different unit. I was thinking about it though. Can you use that unit with the Air mar B 60 thru hull transducer or do I have to install another transducer? I want to look like this but right now I feel like this !! What to do!! What did Garmin say anything about this problem?

You can get pigtails from Airmar (transducer company) that will allow your garmin transducer to connect to the furuno for about $30- The Furuno is a standalone fishfinder that works very well, you would keep your 545s for nav. only - here is what my furuno looks like, see attached-
