Default Configuring a Furuno set up

I have been reviewing the Furuno line and have some questions which I hope some of you can help me decide. My goal is to go all Furuno. I prefer not too spend the big bucks up front and rather begin with basic components, adding AIS, and weather later.

I want to add the radar 6kw HD, GPS, and update my fish finder. I think it would be best for me to go with a 10 inch monitor, or a size close to that.

Do I need the following:

1) Furuno Navnet 3D Black Box Multi Function Processor - Model MFDBB
2) Is the black box fish finder and better option than a stand alone 585? I am not sure I will like the split screen for a fish finder and am thinking a separate monitor or stand alone unit, i.e.585
3) Which transducer is the best all round?

Thanks

Well if you're not wanting to spend big bucks then the MFDBB is not the way to start. That is the most expensive of their NN3D units. If you looking for a 10 inch monitor then why don't you get the NN3D MFD12 and add the 6kw radar to that. It would be a great setup.

I would recommend the DFF1 or DFF3 for your fishfinder and a minimum B260 transducer.

The DFF1 and B260 make one hell of a unit. I have it and love it. It's the setup that was recommended to me by Furuno and Airmar.
