Question Lowrance LGC 2000 to 4000

I`ve got an older LMS335 with a LGC 2000 Gps Ant. The cable (w/blue connectors) from the unit to the gps ant. is damaged. I can`t find a cable for it and the lgc2000 is discontinued. Will the LGC 4000 work? I know I`ll have to also buy an adapter cable. Also best place to buy if anyone knows.

Thanks,
AJ

You can run a 4000 on it, and yes you need an adapter cable to run it. Now if you are looking for just a blue cable, reeds in walker might have one.... they tend to have a lot of parts and even some of the old ones...

You need the 127-05 red to blue adapter cable. We have them in stock.

you could splice in a new cable w/ the blue adaptor to replace the damaged section.

Thanks for that info. Was wondering if the 4000 would work.

Rippin_eyes,
You seem to be the guru when it comes to the older units, so here's my 335 question, not to steal the thread. But can I add and EP something and get my 335C DF to display fuel flow/management? I am running version 19.0

Let me know if you decide to junk your 2000 - I could always use a back-up Thanks.

By all accounts, the 4000 is proving to be a very stable gps, and a good upgrade

Will do.. Right now I`m waiting for a reply from Maretron about the correct connector to possibly splice in.

or you could just get an existing Lowrance cable (choose your length), cut one end off, and splice to the exposed wires directly...

Splicing is not an issue. I have my LGC 3000 cable cut and spliced back together and never a problem. Just do a good job on the reconnection. Either solder and heat shrink or at the very least use but connectors with heat shrink.

When are these electronics manufactures going to make small or easily removable plugs on these items that have to be snaked through tight bends in t-tops and arches? Not everyone has an electronics box right under the damn antenna.

I might try splicing the cable directly, solder, heatshrink.. if i can`t get the right connector assy. from Maretron. They sell nmea2000 cable connectors that you field connect right on to your existing cable. I`m trying now to find out the correct connector to mate up to my lgc 2000. I e-mailed Maretron and they replied back asking if I had the blue connectors. I replied back and that`s the last I heard from them..

I doubt they will have the blue connector - blue was before Lowrance went to the industry standard red/black micro-c connector - which I think is all Maretron ever offered.

Hey,thanks for that info. I didn`t know that . I do have the old blue/gray connector. Maybe that`s why they haven`t replied back. I may end up splicing...

Splicing is easy - just use some adhesive lined shrink tube butt connectors for the correct wire gauge (small).
