Default ICOM 502A - DSC question?

How do I confirm that my ICOM 502A is in fact receiving the GPS location data from my Raymarine C70.

I seem to remember seeing a thread here describing this but my search efforts came up empty.

Any ICOM power users out there that know how to confirm this connection is in place????

Thanks.

If my memory is correct......when you press the DSC button on the 502...it should display your LAT/LON.

If it does not...probably not communicating due to a wiring error or setup in the 502 to receive the input.

It's documented quite well in the manual.

Not sure about the 502, but on my 402 a small GPS is written on the screen when it is hooked up.

Hope this helps... Tyee.

Depress the the DSC/ENT button, you need to hold it down for a couple of seconds, if your GPS is setup to send and it is connected correctly ro the radio, it will register lon & lat at the top left hand side of the screen.

(This is something I coppied from the past)

Find the correct NEMA message to supply to the DSC. Had to have GGA output from the GPS to the radio to make it work.
