Default Another LCX-104C update

The Lowrance website has released version 1.7.0 for this machine. Looks like they've tweaked the overlay upgrade from 1.6.0.

Default LCX-104C update update

Loaded the update this morning over the 1.6.0 update. Not a lot of obvious or significant differences. Only one i noticed was the addition of a Caution and Danger threshold setting on the analong speedometer gauge overlay. I assume they also must have fixed some bugs. The 1.6.0 had already added a lot of overlay functionality over the 1.5.0 release.

I did have the 1.7.0 update lock up when it loaded and had to turn power off at the battery to get the unit to respond again. The update "took" though. Appeared to me to be a bug as I have never had a problem with updates from Lowrance previously. I'd be curious if anyone else sees this or if it was just a flukey "one of those things".

The additional overlay features and user interface to manipulate them are nice and much easier than the old version.

There are still a couple of annoying things I'd like to see get fixed in future releases.

The first would be a way to save the customizations, menu setting changes and overlay changes on the various screens I make. Every time you do an update, it wipes out all changes and reverts the unit to the default settings for *everything*. I make changes to practically every screen; I learned years ago using an LCX-15MT to copy down all my changes so I could recreate my settings. It sure would be handy to be able to back-up and export the setting customizations to a data file on the MMC so it could be re-imported once an update was done.

The second annoying thing I'd like to see get changed is to add a capability to change the font size for the waypoints displayed on the map screens. I have hundreds of waypoints and even with the 10.7" screen, the screen clutter makes navigation difficult when I am using 1nm and greater zoom levels. Obviously I turn off the Names on the waypoints and use the cursor to get the name displayed using the pop-up text feature. But when I am heading out to a location with several dozen close waypoints it makes it more challenging to cursor to the right one.

Ditto's to this:
