I've done several. Results depend on which software version your unit is currently running. Updated software usually corrects errors, adds enhancements and improvements, compatibility issues with aftermarket mapping cards, etc. Check the link out below. It tells you how to find out which version you're currently running and what changes are made in the update.

Default V3.0 now up for download....

I just spotted this on Lowrance's site

http://www.lowrance.com/Downloads/Pr...tration-files/

Details on what is new in V3.0
http://www.lowrance.com/upload/Lowra...EASE_NOTES.pdf

Things I see as notable:
- Navionics Chart enhancements (such as not displaying the map text upside down/sideways when you're not in North up orientation)
- faster processing/updates of LGC4000 GPS module
- Low Voltage alarms (was this not there already?)
- fish alarm - audible alarm when unit detects a fish (uhmm, no thanks)
- expanded support for coordinates/datum to restore it back to what LCX units had
- improved night mode in 2D charts (uses a "night" color pallet - that would be nice)
- synchronized backlight settings when using multiple units
- fuel prices via Sirius Weather (LWX-1) module (not sure that helps, its all to expensive anyway)
- a bunch of Lowrance radar improvements
- some other stuff I did not list
- bug fixes

Thanks! I am downloading it now (23 minutes to go).

Apparently the BR-24 is getting a software update and can now do MARPA with a "radar interface module". I found a diagram on the Lowrance website, but I can't find the interface online anywhere. Does anyone know what the model is? Here is the website with the descriptions of the BR-24 updates, and even has a nice diagram on pg. 10, but it is so blurry you can't read the model of the radar interface.

In US a Radar Interface called RI10 is needed, in the rest of the world the broadband radar is delivered with the RI11 interface.

Does this improve the speed of updating maps when using Navionics satellite photos and zoomed in close? Currently it can't keep up with the scrolling if I'm going 30mph zoomed in to see the ICW. I get big blocks of maps that take too long to draw and I'm already moving past that section.

I know exactly what you mean.. But, I did the software update and it seems to update faster with the Navionics. I will put it to the test this Friday.
